Automatic Noodle

"Automatic Noodle", by Annalee Newitz, 2025, 168 pages.

In a near future San Francisco, after rebooting from a shutdown by sleazy human restauranteurs producing crap food, a group of 4 HEEI (human equivalent embodied intelligence) robots decide to reopen a restaurant themselves, specializing in handmade Chinese noodles. Some of the robots are veterans of the California war of independence from the US.

I didn't realize how short this book was. It was a quick, easy, & fun read. Plus, very low stress. Increasingly I don't want stress in what I read. I'm getting old, & there's way more than enough stress in the real world right now - not so much for me personally (knock on wood), but for the world in general, as our toddler/grifter-in-chief continues to break things.
