Winter of 2017-2018 several musicians in Naples, FL turned me on to the OnSong app. It is a great app for song management. It is unfortunate that it is run by a cult. They sign emails "Blessings", and [sarcasm] I love my free issue every month of "Worship Musician". [/sarcasm]
I told this story over and over. "It's like reverse loaves-and-fishes! It's a miracle!" Here it is from a compendium of tweets in April, 2018.
April 4: I love living in the future! My three ring song binder was getting really heavy - 374 songs/pages. But it seems like I can add as many songs as I want to my iPad and it doesn’t get any heavier!!! Magic! #ItsGettingBetterAllTheTime #TheFuture #music #OnSongI did the initial import of 374 text files on my pc April 2018. I wrote the 1st procedural code since my retirement in September 2012 - a 4 line bash script to take a list of files and prepend their name to their content. I then did "vi *.txt" and manually edited 376 files adding artist, key, & genre.
Here's a reference to it from September, 2018; it was at 580 songs. A discussion of how the songs are added - one of the great features of OnSong is that you can create books at will, and a song can be as many books as desired. My main books are for bands I play with; songs that I call at jams; that other people call at jams; weddings; funerals; background.
On March 11, 2020, I added songs #799 & #800 to OnSong: "kentucky woman", and "lay down sally". About 70 songs are red-flagged as "need-work".
It felt like I should capture the list. Here it is, 800 songs. Sorted alpha. I would like to have sorted by, say, descending date added, but that gets broken when you hit the initial mass import.
